01One milligram is hair lock, five milligrams is prostate
Pick Finpecia 1 mg, Check it is not 5 mg BPH, Tag PSA and pregnancy handling, Bin without inventing a brand dollar.
Finpecia 1 mg is Cipla-branded finasteride for male pattern hair loss. Propecia is the US 1 mg brand. They are the same INN and strength when the tablet is a regulated 1 mg product. Proscar 5 mg is BPH labelling. Quartering 5 mg to 'make Propecia' is a handling and dosing mess this bin refuses to romanticize.
Recommended dose is one 1 mg tablet once daily, with or without food. Benefit can show by three months. Daily use is what holds it. Stop, and the gain recedes toward baseline. This is not a weekend tablet and not a 5 mg 'loading' stunt.
Mean terminal half-life is about 5 to 6 hours in men 18 to 60 and about 8 hours after 70. Plasma clearance in one labelled set averaged 165 mL/min (range 70-279). Those numbers explain once-daily use, not a missed-dose double on Sunday.
Women and children are not on this peg. Pregnancy is a contraindication. Crushed or broken tablets should not be handled by anyone who is or may be pregnant because of risk to a male fetus. Intact tablets have a coating; do not crush them in a kitchen to split costs.
Tag PSA interpretation, sexual adverse events at or above one percent, and the high-grade prostate-cancer note from 5-ARI trials. Then bin 1 mg without a fake Finpecia coupon. Priya Natarajan, 21 August 2026. [email protected].
Pick 1 mg. Check the box is not Proscar. Tag crushed-tablet handling if anyone in the house might be pregnant. Bin the card with a reminder that three months is early and that a courier invoice is not a lab. Daily use holds the gain. Stopping returns the baseline.
02Women and children stay off this peg
Propecia-class 1 mg is not indicated in women or pediatric patients. Postmenopausal off-label talk exists in clinics; it is not this lock and not a Dublin bin endorsement. Do not pass a 1 mg to a partner 'to try'.
Trans and non-binary patients need a clinician who can hold hormones, fertility, and hair in one plan. A web card that says men only is describing the labelled trial population, not policing identity. It is still a teratogenic handling problem if pregnancy is possible.
Pediatric accidental ingestions: call poison advice. Do not wait to see if hair changes. The tablet is not a vitamin.
Depression and mood reports exist in postmarketing noise. New mood change after a 1 mg start deserves a clinical conversation, not a minimizing 'it's only hair'.
Who this 1 mg peg is not for
- Men only on the labelled AGA indication
- Pregnant people: do not handle crushed or broken tablets
- Children: not indicated; ingestions get poison-centre advice
- 5 mg BPH tablets are a different card and a different age band
03Vertex photos versus a bathroom selfie
Trial hair counts used standardised photos, not a phone under a yellow bulb. People declare failure at week five because the parting looks the same at 7 am. Three months is the labelled early signal. Twelve months is the fairer vertex look.
Seasonal shed and telogen stories confuse the 1 mg start. If the loss is abrupt, patchy, or scarred, think other diagnoses before you hop to a second Cipla box that is the same INN. A dermatology letter beats a courier brand change.
Compounded 'topical finasteride' is not this oral 1 mg lock and not a way around the pregnancy-handling sentence. Households still need a plan for who touches what. This bin will not invent a topical microgram dose.
Duty-free Propecia and a street Finpecia can both be 1 mg and still be a verification failure if the blister is unlabelled. Heat, moisture, and unknown content are the usual travel sins. A regulated generic 1 mg from a named pharmacy beats a glamorous foreign box.
Mood change after a 1 mg start deserves the same seriousness as a sexual change. Postmarketing noise is not a prevalence. It is a reason to speak, not to joke that it is only hair. Write the start date in the note.
Insurance sometimes covers 5 mg BPH and not 1 mg AGA. That coverage gap is how quartering starts. This card still refuses the split. Ask about generic 1 mg cash. Do not ask this desk for a Finpecia dollar to close the gap.
04What a courier box does not prove
A tracked envelope with a Cipla-shaped blister proves a purchase, not content, storage, or a legal script. Heat on a tarmac and a missing leaflet are verification failures. This desk still will not type a Finpecia dollar to make the envelope look official.
Propecia-shaped branding on a generic 1 mg is marketing. Counsel the INN and the 1 mg line. If the tablet is 5 mg, it is the wrong lock even if the courier invoice said hair.
Photo-ID theatre from other shelf drugs does not belong here the way it does for a Schedule V. Do not invent a controlled-drug ritual around finasteride. The real work is pregnancy handling and PSA.
Men who already had a breast work-up need the postmarketing breast sentence said plainly. Tenderness is not automatically cancer. A new mass is examination. Do not delay imaging because the hair tablet does that.
Twelve-month photos in the same bathroom, same hour, same length, beat a monthly panic. If the vertex is worse at one year on documented daily 1 mg, that is a dermatology revisit, not a third brand of the same INN.
Priya Natarajan's 21 August 2026 review does not turn this card into a shop. Educational browse. Change or stop only with the clinician who holds the rest of the chart.
05Finpecia is Cipla ink, not a US cash cell
US windows may only stock generic finasteride or Propecia. Asking for Finpecia by that brand can return a blank stare. The molecule, if 1 mg and regulated, is the counselling unit. The versus clip is brand literacy, not a buy button.
This desk will not invent a Finpecia coupon, a rupee-to-dollar conversion, or a 'street' 1 mg price. Nearest published US cash on the fill ledger is generic 1 mg x 90. If a site quotes a Finpecia dollar, treat it as unverified. Kaelis does not dispense.
Import boxes still need a prescription in the jurisdictions this shelf talks about. A customs bargain without a clinician is how 5 mg BPH packs arrive for a 26-year-old who wanted hair.
Heat-degraded blister packs from a glove box are a verification failure. Unmarked 'generic Propecia' from a banner ad is the same failure with worse chemistry.
| Name on the box | Strength / labelled job | What this bin does |
|---|---|---|
| Finpecia (Cipla) | 1 mg hair lock when that is the tablet | No invented dollar |
| Propecia | US 1 mg AGA brand | Same INN counsel as 1 mg generic |
| Proscar / 5 mg generic | BPH, not this hair lock | Do not quarter as a life hack |
| US generic 1 mg | Nearest published cash line on the fill | Ask the window; Kaelis does not sell |
06Crushed tablets and a household pregnancy
Finasteride blocks Type II 5-alpha-reductase and DHT production needed for normal male external genitalia in a fetus. If a pregnant woman is exposed, she needs to know. If she handles a crushed or broken tablet, wash and call obstetric advice. Do not keep broken 1 mg chips in a shared pill box.
Semen exposure at 1 mg/day was studied in pregnant monkeys at estimated human-semen levels without male-fetal abnormalities in that model; much higher IV exposures did cause external genital changes. Household rules still start with: do not crush, do not share, pregnant people do not handle broken tablets.
Donation of blood while on finasteride has local blood-service rules in many countries because of the pregnancy handling issue. Check the Irish or receiving-country service, not a gym rumour.
07Sexual adverse events sit above one percent
Decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorder (including lower volume) were the common labelled reactions: at least 1 percent and more than placebo on 1 mg. A sexual-function questionnaire in vertex trials found placebo-favoring differences at month 12 in interest, erections, and perceived problems, without a difference in overall sex-life satisfaction.
Postmarketing reports include persistent symptoms after stop. Causality is debated. This card will not invent a percentage that the label does not give. It will say: if sexual function changes, talk to the prescriber rather than ghosting the blister and the hair plan on the same week.
Breast tenderness, enlargement, rash, and testicular pain are on the postmarketing list. A new breast mass is examination, not a 'hormone tax' joke. Allergic swell of lips or face is a stop.
Men already on sildenafil for ED are not forbidden from 1 mg finasteride by a class clash, but they need a single story about what changed after which start date. Two new sexual complaints in one month is a chart problem, not two separate forum threads.
08DHT talk without a classroom lecture
Type II 5-alpha-reductase turns testosterone toward DHT in scalp and prostate. Blocking that enzyme is why 1 mg can slow male AGA and why 5 mg has a BPH label. The hair lock does not become a prostate treatment because someone read a mechanism paragraph.
Serum testosterone may rise a little as DHT falls. That is not a licence to stack a gym 'test booster' on 1 mg. Extra androgens can fight the hair goal. Tell the prescriber about any unlicensed peptide or steroid.
Saw-palmetto folklore is not a 1 mg equivalent. Do not stop a working finasteride tablet for a supermarket capsule and then blame Finpecia when the vertex thins. If someone wants to stop, plan the shed with the clinician.
Sperm and fertility questions belong in clinic with current evidence, not in a bin-card percentage this page does not have. Men planning conception should ask before they start or stop 1 mg, not after a forum scare.
09PSA drops and the lab that forgets to ask
In 1 mg studies of men 18 to 41, mean PSA moved from 0.7 ng/mL at baseline to 0.5 ng/mL at month 12. In older men on 5 mg for BPH, PSA falls about 50 percent. Finasteride can also lower PSA in the presence of prostate cancer. Any confirmed rise from the lowest value on 1 mg needs evaluation, even if the number still looks 'normal' for a man not on a 5-ARI.
Write 'on finasteride 1 mg' on the lab form. A result that lands in the inbox without that note is how a 0.9 gets filed as fine after a 0.5 nadir. The PCPT high-grade finding (1.8 percent versus 1.1 percent Gleason 8-10) is the other sentence that belongs in the same visit, without turning every 26-year-old start into a panic.
Non-compliance also muddies the test. A man who skips weeks and then restarts before a PSA draw is not comparable to the trial curves. Tell the lab and the GP the drug and the adherence, not only the brand name.
PCPT found more Gleason 8-10 cancers on finasteride than placebo (1.8 percent versus 1.1 percent). Labels warn that 5-ARIs may increase the risk of high-grade prostate cancer. Whether that is detection bias or biology is still argued. The counselling sentence still belongs on the card.
Do not skip PSA talk because the patient is 28 and only wants hair. The 1 mg studies already measured PSA in that age band. The label-read clip is the strength and indication literacy, including this lab footnote.
10Three months before anyone calls it a fail
Investigator-assessed improvement appeared as early as three months in the labelled hair studies. Twelve months is a fairer judge of vertex change. Stopping after six weeks because a bathroom photo looks identical is how people cycle brands that are the same INN.
Continued daily use is what sustains benefit. A 'course' of 1 mg is a misread borrowed from antibiotics. This is not Flagyl 500 mg.
Shedding stories in the first months circulate on forums. The label's efficacy language is about counts and photos versus placebo, not about blessing every shed as proof it works. If shedding is abrupt and patchy, think other alopecias and see a clinician.
Topical minoxidil was allowed in some trial windows. Combining therapies is a prescriber plan, not a bin-card stack. Do not add a 5 mg oral minoxidil experiment because 1 mg 'felt slow'.
11Bin 1 mg without inventing a Finpecia dollar
Bin Finpecia 1 mg when the indication is male AGA, the tablet is 1 mg not 5 mg, PSA talk is named, and no one has typed a fake brand price into the fill. The ledger below says ask for 1 mg and points at generic cash only.
Daily, for months, with a clinician. Educational, 21 August 2026. Kaelis does not dispense.
