Finpecia 1 mg and Propecia share an INN, not a made-up price

10 min read · Reviewed

One milligram, one INN, two cartons. Finpecia is a Cipla brand of finasteride. Propecia is the US reference 1 mg hair brand. Forum dollar gaps are not evidence and this clip will not invent one. Read strength, INN, and the pregnancy handling row. Deeper carton literacy sits on the label-read clip.

Two brand chips pointing to one finasteride molecule

01One milligram, one INN, two cartons

Finasteride 1 mg daily is the labelled hair dose for men with androgenetic alopecia. Propecia's US prescribing information is the reference sheet this bin uses for 1 mg facts.

Finpecia is Cipla's 1 mg finasteride carton, sold in several markets. It is a brand name, not a new enzyme story. If the tablet is genuine 1 mg finasteride, the INN matches.

Priya Natarajan refuses a fake coupon row on this card. Anyone quoting a 'Propecia is $X, Finpecia is $Y' figure from a comment thread is writing advertising, not a label.

Finpecia versus Propecia without a made-up price
What to compareWhat not to invent
INN and 1 mg strengthA brand dollar or euro
Film coat and handlingA 'stronger Indian mg'
PSA counsellingA two-week miracle photo
Pregnancy warningA women's beauty dose

02Parallel import versus licensed Irish pack

A licensed Irish or US generic 1 mg and a parallel-import carton can both be finasteride 1 mg. The job is to read the INN, the milligram, and the licence mark, not the loudest brand on a banner.

Unlicensed suitcase blisters with no leaflet are a different risk. This desk will not coach an import. It will say unread strength is a reject.

Pharmacy substitution to a locally licensed 1 mg is ordinary. Substitution to a 5 mg prostate brand is not ordinary.

If the carton language is not one you can read, ask the pharmacist to point at the 1 mg line with a pen. Do not pay a story. We still type no price.

03Price posts are not evidence

Search pages love a gap between a brand and a parallel-import name. Gaps move by week, pharmacy, and insurance. A number we typed here would be fiction by next Tuesday.

Quality is batch and licence, not a low screenshot. A 'too cheap' story is as empty as a 'must be better because expensive' story when neither cites an assay.

If cost is the barrier, ask the prescriber about a locally licensed generic 1 mg. That sentence still contains no dollar.

05Keep one 1 mg leaflet, even if the carton logo changes

The US Propecia counselling rows still teach the INN. A new generic box does not wipe PSA or pregnancy handling.

Tape the leaflet inside the cupboard so a substitution at the till does not erase the sentences.

If the new leaflet is in a language you cannot read, ask the pharmacist to point at 1 mg and the handling row before you leave.

A missing leaflet plus a mystery blister is a reject, not a versus-win.

Keep the leaflet even after you decide you prefer one logo. The INN sentences outlive the carton art.

06One prescriber, one milligram, two names at most

If a Dublin GP writes finasteride 1 mg and a hair clinic also posts Finpecia, check you are not taking both.

If a US holiday fill says Propecia and the Irish repeat says a generic, that can be the same INN. Confirm 1 mg. Do not add a third carton 'to be sure'.

Tell every new dentist and every new urologist. The versus argument is less important than the disclosure.

A partner who buys a 'men's hair stack' online may add a second 5-alpha drug. Bring the stack.

Photos belong to months. Logos belong to cartons. Do not confuse them at week three.

Still no invented brand dollar. If cost is the only reason for a hop, say cost and ask for a licensed generic. The sentence contains no figure.

[email protected] is for source drift, not for a private compare-the-market.

07Same enzyme, two logos, one counselling sheet

Type II 5-alpha-reductase does not read brand ink. DHT suppression counselling is the same if the tablet is 1 mg finasteride.

A man who 'failed Propecia' at week eight has not failed a logo. He has a short calendar. Switching to Finpecia for speed is a carton hop.

A man who 'failed Finpecia' because sexual function changed should not be told the other logo is gentler. Same listed rows.

Keep one prescriber. Two clinics each issuing a 1 mg brand is how people take 2 mg without a label.

Tell the lab every time. A versus argument is not a PSA disclosure.

Priya Natarajan will not rank Cipla against Organon on a dollar. She will rank a readable 1 mg line above a banner.

08Cipla Finpecia is a brand, not a new molecule

A Cipla carton does not create a 1.25 mg 'boost' or a 0.5 mg 'safer micro'. Look at the 1 mg line. If a grey-market blister has no strength, do not guess.

Excipients differ by factory. Allergy to a dye is possible. That is still not a potency ranking.

US availability of a named foreign carton changes with import rules. This desk will not tell you to order a suitcase pack. It will tell you to read 1 mg finasteride on whatever legal pack you hold.

09Say finasteride 1 mg in the hair room and the PSA room

Two rooms, one sentence. Logos can differ. The INN should not.

If either room will not write 1 mg, that room is not doing a label read.

A screenshot of a saving is not a sentence. Leave it at home.

Crushed-tablet handling belongs in both rooms if anyone in the house might be pregnant.

Sexual and mood rows belong in both rooms. A logo change is not a side-effect holiday.

Priya Natarajan will not invent a Propecia or Finpecia dollar to end an argument between rooms.

10Bloodwork a hair clinic sometimes skips

PSA counselling belongs even when the clinic is a hair-only room. Men in their forties still get PSAs later. Write the drug now.

Mood and sexual history belong at start, not after a bad month when the man is too embarrassed to return.

Thyroid, iron, and other hair labs are separate. Finasteride 1 mg does not replace them. It also does not require a fake price to be 'complete care'.

If the clinic will not say 1 mg out loud and only says 'our special tablet', leave. The versus-clip cannot decode a mystery milligram.

11Do not add a second 1 mg because a logo disappointed you

Two cartons is 2 mg. The hair label is 1 mg daily.

Panic at week six is a photo and a call, not a second blister from a different brand.

Sexual change plus a second milligram is a worse experiment, not a fix.

If a clinic posted both Propecia and Finpecia 'to compare', check the bottles tonight.

Still no invented dollar. The error is arithmetic, not a market.

Count the tablets in both boxes tonight if two clinics have ever posted 1 mg. Arithmetic is faster than a banner.

If the count is already over one a day, stop the extra carton and call the prescriber who should own the milligram before the next hair photo.

12PSA math is the same conversation

Any confirmed rise from the lowest PSA on treatment needs evaluation even if the number still looks 'normal' for men not on a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. Missing tablets also scramble the test.

High-grade prostate-cancer risk language sits on the 5-alpha-reductase class warning. It is a counselling row, not a reason to invent a cheaper brand as 'safer'.

Proscar-type 5 mg tablets are a different labelled job (BPH). Splitting a 5 mg tablet to improvise 1 mg is a messy handling problem for anyone pregnant in the house. Prefer a true 1 mg product your prescriber named.

13Hair calendars are months, not cartons

Propecia studies judged hair over months, not weekend selfies. Switching cartons at week three because a forum said Finpecia 'hits faster' is not pharmacology.

Stopping either 1 mg product can shed what was gained over subsequent months. That is a counselling fact, not a threat.

Sexual effects deserve a plain sentence at start. They are listed. They are a reason to call, not a reason to double the milligram.

14What the US Propecia label actually locks

One tablet, 1 mg, once daily. Not indicated for women or children. Women who are or may be pregnant must not handle crushed or broken tablets because of risk to a male fetus.

Common adverse reactions at 1 percent or more and above placebo: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorder. Those rows travel with the INN, not with the logo.

In men aged 18 to 41, mean PSA moved from 0.7 ng/mL at baseline to 0.5 ng/mL at month 12 on 1 mg. On 5 mg BPH products, PSA falls by about half. Tell whoever orders PSA that you take finasteride.

15Compare INN and strength, not folklore

Finpecia 1 mg versus Propecia is a carton conversation. The molecule and the 1 mg lock should match on a genuine tablet. The dollar must stay off this page.

How to read a blister line by line is the label-read clip. The finasteride shelf holds the longer monograph.

Before you start, stop, or change any medicine, speak with your prescriber or pharmacist. They hold your chart. This bin card does not. Open the bin disclaimer.

Bin thread

Brand-compare mail for Finpecia 1 mg versus Propecia. Educational only. Mood change with sexual dysfunction, or breast lumps: call the clinician who prescribed the 1 mg. This page invents no brand price and will not rank logos by a fake dollar. Say the INN in the hair room and the PSA room. Priya Natarajan, Dublin bin desk, 21 August 2026. Cillian R., Sandyford asks

Is Finpecia 1 mg the same as Propecia 1 mg?

Same INN and milligram if both tablets are genuine finasteride 1 mg. Fillers can differ. The US teaching label is Propecia. We will not type a price gap. Read the finasteride shelf and the label-read clip before you treat a forum screenshot as a lab.

Iseult M., Castleknock asks

I handle my partner's tablets. I might be pregnant.

Do not handle crushed or broken 1 mg finasteride tablets. Intact film-coated tablets reduce dust, but the warning is real. Wash with soap and water if you touch a broken one. The partner's clinician should know. This is not a women's dose.

Dermatology SHO, St James's asks

Patient wants Finpecia because a blog said it is stronger.

Stronger is a marketing adjective. Ask for 1 mg finasteride from a licensed source. Document PSA counselling and the pregnancy household warning. Do not write a dollar comparison in the notes.

Oisin T., Stillorgan asks

Can I split a 5 mg prostate tablet to save money?

Messy, dusty, and a pregnancy-handling problem. Cost is not a reason this clip will bless a kitchen split. Ask for a 1 mg product. No price invented here.

GP, Navan commute clinic asks

PSA came back 1.1 on 1 mg. Panic?

Interpret against his on-drug baseline. A rise from his lowest value matters more than a single number in the 'normal' range for untreated men. Confirm adherence. Refer if the rise is real.

Pharmacist, Pearse Street asks

Customer asks which carton is cheaper today.

Quote today's till if you must. Do not let this site's card become a price list. Verify 1 mg finasteride, counselling on sexual AE and pregnancy handling, and a legitimate supply chain.

Urology nurse, Beaumont asks

He started 1 mg for hair and nobody told us before a PSA.

Write finasteride 1 mg on the form and reinterpret. Missing that fact is how people get needless biopsies or false reassurance. Hand him this clip.

Barber, Capel Street asks

Clients ask which brand I 'recommend'. I am not a clinician.

Say you do not pick cartons. Say 1 mg finasteride is a prescription conversation and that price screenshots are not lab results. You can mention that crushed tablets are a pregnancy-handling problem at home. You cannot quote a Finpecia dollar from this site because we did not write one.

Customs query, Dublin Airport (reader) asks

I have a personal blister labelled Finpecia 1 mg. Is it 'the same' as my Irish generic?

If both are genuine finasteride 1 mg, the INN matches. Import law is not this clip. Do not assume a foreign carton is licensed for your next repeat. Read the milligram. Do not invent a savings figure to justify a suitcase. Ask the prescriber before you mix packs in one month.

Psychiatry liaison, SVUH asks

Low mood after starting 1 mg, sexual function down. Brand switch?

Brand switch is the wrong first move. Same INN. Call the prescriber about stopping or continuing, and about mood risk. Document the start date. A versus-clip will not fix a mood row by changing the logo.

Partner, Sandyford asks

He wants Finpecia because a screenshot showed a huge saving versus Propecia.

Ask for a licensed 1 mg finasteride, not a screenshot. We will not type that saving. Compare INN and strength. If a household pregnancy is possible, handle crushed tablets as a dust risk on either carton. Send him to the label-read clip before money moves.
